He ruled Egypt during the New Kingdom, within the 19th Dynasty, and his reign lasted approximately 66 years (1279–1213 BC), making him one of the longest-reigning pharaohs in history.

His Origins and the Beginning of the Legend: Ramses II was born into a powerful royal family, the son of King Seti I, one of the pillars of the New Kingdom. From childhood, he was groomed to be an invincible leader, participating in military campaigns early on and learning the arts of war, administration, and politics.

He ascended the throne at a relatively young age, but from the very beginning, he proved himself an exceptional pharaoh, setting his sights on one goal: restoring Egypt’s glory and expanding its influence.

Ramses II was renowned for his military achievements, with the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites being his most famous battle and one of the earliest documented battles in history.

Despite the controversy surrounding its outcome, Ramses depicted himself on temple walls as a legendary hero fighting alone. More importantly, he ended the conflict by signing the first written peace treaty in history, an unprecedented political achievement.
