Pharaonic dates made of stone, handmade by the sculptor Mohamed Ayman

Pharaonic stone dates were used by the Pharaohs to preserve the mummy during mummification so that it would not decompose. They would place them specifically in specific places in the body, such as the throat, stomach mouth, and vulva. Inside them was a substance called red mercury.
